My Daughter's Wedding

SUNDAY, MAY 29, 2011
So many of you have asked for pictures and details that I decided to make a blog entry about it with some pictures. The big event was Sunday, May 22, 2011, at The Hendry House in Arlington, VA. The House is a refurbished colonial home with gorgeous park-like grounds, all owned by the City of Arlington.  The House itself is not very large, but with lovely appointments such as crown molding, wainscoting, cornices, window seats and shiny hardwood floors.  We could not seat 130 people in the house, but the grounds were be gorgeous.  You can see there is lush greenery everywhere.

Because we live in Nevada and my daughter, her fiance and the wedding were all in DC, we left much of the planning and details to the bride and we just wrote checks. But I wanted my paper-crafting handiwork to enter in to the mix, so I made place cards, gift bags, table numbers, seat placards and embossed 1500 cocktail napkins on the Big Shot.

The colors were Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz with a smattering of Peach Parfait. I wore Perfect Plum.

It rained on an off all day, but just as the traditional Jewish ceremony started at 4 PM, the sun came out.
The theme was "books" or "library" and each place card had a paper fleurette on it punchedfrom old yellowed paperbacks, using the 1-3/4" Scallop Circle Punch.

The centerpieces were old hardback books with flowers in glass vases standing them up like bookends.  Daughter Brooke even found an antique Library box to put the "library cards" in to tell people at which table they were seated. When they got to their table, the place cards were already at each place.

These are not the professional pictures, which we won't have for a couple of weeks. These were shot by friends and family.

It was beautiful and elegant, yet with a warm, homespun feeling. I am beyond proud of Brooke for all the work she did and all the attention to detail. It was simply magical in so many ways and a day certainly befitting such a beautiful couple. Here's to you, Brooke and Aaron!  May your lives be blessed with many wonderful, joyous and loving years together.
